秋川雅史
1967年10月11日、愛媛県西条市生まれ。
4歳よりヴァイオリンとピアノを始め、のちに父の指導のもと声楽の道へと転向。アルバム「パッシオーネ~復活の歌声」で日本人テノールとしてCDデビュー。
アルバム「威風堂々」に収録された楽曲「千の風になって」が話題をよび、シングルカットされ第57回NHK紅白歌合戦に初出場。シングル「千の風になって」でクラシック歌手として史上初のオリコンシングルチャート1位を獲得。130万枚を売り上げ、第47回日本レコード大賞特別賞受賞。
彫刻家としても「二科展」彫刻部門にて、第105回から5年連続で入選。
2025年、自身初となる完全書き下ろし書籍「子育てこそ最高の生きがい 私の考える教育」を出版するなど多岐に渡り活動中。
Masafumi Akikawa was born in Saijo, Ehime Prefecture, on October 11, 1967. He began playing the violin and piano at age four and later switched to vocal music under the tutelage of his father. His album Passione: Fukkatsu no Utagoe (The Voice of Revival) marked his debut as a Japanese tenor.
The song “Sen no Kaze ni Natte” (I Am a Thousand Winds) from the album Ifudōdō (Pomp and Circumstance) was released as a single upon gaining widespread acclaim, and was performed at his first appearance on the 57th NHK Kōhaku Uta Gassen broadcast. The single went on to sell 1.3 million copies, reaching the top spot on the Oricon Singles Chart, the first time for a classical singer, and earned Akikawa the Special Award at the 47th Japan Record Awards.
Akikawa is also a talented sculptor who has been selected in the Sculpture Division of the Nika Art Exhibition for five consecutive years since its 105th edition.
With the 2025 release of his first book of original writings, Kosodate koso Saikō no Ikigai—Watashi no Kangaeru Kyōiku (Parenting as Life’s Greatest Purpose: My Thoughts on Education), Akikawa continues to explore his wide-ranging artistic passions.
